Dr. Alya Jawaid (she/her) graduated from the Aga Khan Medical School in Karachi, Pakistan, in 2002. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency from the University of Minnesota in 2008.
Dr. Jawaid has worked in two large healthcare settings, with HealthEast Maplewood and St John’s hospital; and at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji. She is experienced in both inpatient and outpatient care. As an internist, she sees adults ranging from healthy individuals, to those with complex, multi-system disease. In the Direct Primary Care model, she looks forward to being able to spend extended time with patients, and help them navigate their individual health journeys. She believes that DPC can lead to improved health outcomes, a better patient-physician relationship, and lower healthcare costs for all. Dr. Jawaid practices evidence-based medicine and follows major society guidelines for care.
Dr. Jawaid has lived in Minnesota for almost 20 years, and has two children. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, painting and spending time with and cooking for family and friends.
